No Reply from UA on any of my Support issues for this Apollo Twin Mkii
My Apollo randomly turns on and off and it appears to be this cheap power supply that is faulty. I have purchased products from UA since 2003 and not sure why they leave me with Legacy plugins instead of upgrading the same plugin to the latest version. The Apollo hardware is mediocre at best and mine seems to be stuck without a working Volume knob which just happened out of nowhere, I followed the proper protocol to reset the device several times with no luck. I use this on an M1Max Pro Macbook and have had issues with pops and clicks constantly and the UA software console freezing on me where I have to Force Quit. I Love the plugins but to be honest they are overpriced and I really don't need them since upgrading from my 2015 iMac to this M1Max Pro with 64GB of Ram and with the slack customer support I wouldn't buy anything else from them until they make all of our purchased plugins Free as they move away from processor based Audio interfaces. This company doesn't have a great return on your investment and when I used it on my old iMac they plugin count was not that great, I don't see this company making another 5 years without filing Chapter 11 at the rate they're going!

The plug-in's are outstanding but if you don't buy directly from a retail store or UAD and then run into an issue... you are screwed. No one will help you and all you will get is re-direction to another company that you have to pay even more to get help from.

My New Apollo Twin, Finally Up And Running
I am no newbie to home recording. On the other hand, I am not a recording engineer either. This unit was very, very difficult to set up and get working. The documentation and videos, while informative, seemed to blow right through areas that I would have liked some more explanation and detail.
After maybe ten hours of pounding through vids and docs and lots and lots of trial and error, I finally have it working ok with Logic Pro. At lease I can record my guitar and my mic on channel 1 and 2.
All in all, it seems that the unit is strong and works well, but the developers seemed much more interested in providing a venue for selling their effect VSTs rather than providing good, instructional materials related to installation for non-professionals.

Bon son mais gros défauts!
La grosse déception qui concerne cette carte, c'est l'impossibilité de contrôler les plugs-ins que vous faites tourner sur les dsp (donc sans latence) via midi! Ça signifie que les réglages de delay, d'autotune, de reverb ne peuvent être évolutifs à la prise (ou pour le live). Si c'est absolument nécessaire, il vous faudra utiliser le monitoring qui passe par votre DAW, et de fait vous obtiendrez beaucoup de latence en prime (tout en continuant à faire tourner les plugs sur vos dsp, donc en étant toujours aussi limités pour leur nombre..
Grosse déception!!

Couldn't get it to work with my imac
So I sent it back. I can see how amazing it would be, but after four hours of messing around only to realize that for something at this cost I think they could make it work without the need to do what I am unsure and four hours is enough, then instead I bought the fabfilter mastering bundle in black Friday sale I am happy with that. I wasn't going to review this and since I had prior emailed the company to say I was returning it I am surprised that I was sent a link to do a review. I am now having trouble removing the plethora of resulting unwanted links to a hundred or so bits of software that I didn't buy but I can cope. Gearformusic did not quibble on the return and paid in full and I will always use them

Connection
I believe that it's a great piece of hardware, however, that thunderbolt connection its not convenient at all old mac users like me and i had to return my Apollo Twin Duo. Universal Audio needs to think twice

It would have been good...
I would really like this device if it didn’t heat up so fast, and cuts off 2 the aux plugs once it’s gotten extremely hot.

So Far, I'm Not Getting A User-Friendly Vibe
I am finding this unit to be extremely finicky. While I am sure they are an engineers dream, the software and plugins on the device introduce an unnecessary complication for me. I really don't see what their purpose is if DAW's already have plugins. So, the whole added layer of software/plugins adds a layer of confusion and a place where things can go wrong.
Things get geometrically complicated from there; it's very cumbersome to determine the source of audio issues: The Apollo? The Apollo's console software? The Apollo's plugins? My DAW? My DAW's plugins? My computer? Me? Something else? All of the above?
If you are a musician and not an engineer, you might share my frustrations. To me, this device is a tinkerer's dream. All the software bells and whistles are impressive, but so far, I was able to get the job done in less time and at a much better price.
Finally, the audio sounds like I am in a tin can inside a wind tunnel (another big difference from my old AudioBox 44VSL). I'm trying to figure this one out, but knowing I have to hunt and peck through the user community bulletin board (and not knowing what to look for) is discouraging.

Not for Heavy Metal
I was persuaded by my sales associate at Sweetwater to upgrade to an Apollo Twin from a Focusrite duo. I took his advice and have been quite disappointed. More so in the plug ins that the company raves about. I could not find one amp emulation that gave a high gain, metal sounding tone. Not even close on this. I feel like UAD has not paid much if any attention at all to heavy distorted tones and metal amps. And unfortunately that is the music that I love, write, and record. The BIAS FX selections are the best and have not been matched. Otherwise, the unit is pretty solid. But if your looking for heavy distorted tones, dont invest your money into AUD for plug ins...

Good sound, but instable
Sound is great. But needs a lot of support, because it loses connection to DAW and often driver problems. Also usability problems. We needed to contact UA support to get it running.

very good using it by microphoning the instrument (guitar). bad using plug-ins (UA or others) with the input volume to the minimum however goes in peak (red). does not exist in adequate assistance in my country to solve the problem.

It's ok
Wish it had a separate headphone control , the unit also runs hot and the plugins that come with the unit, 'not the demo stuff' could be much better. I guess it's a clever marketing move to get you into buying more. On a different note, customer service was really good when my mkii had an issue.
