Works a treat!
Got an Apollo 8 quad to expand on the Twin I’ve had for years. Works a treat!
Support have been very helpful resolving a few setup issues.

Second hand but works well
although the used Apollo 8 has a TB 2 connection with the help of 2 Apple TB2 to TB3 converter and the proper cables I could daisy-chain the unit with my Apollo Twin X and Satellite TB3 units . negative aspect: Original Apple Cables and converter alone cost almost 200 EUR

Stop thinking about it and just buy it. Worth every penny!! Slick look with an even better sound! Only downside is with the "free" included plugins are only good for about 2 weeks; otherwise 5 stars.

Very good
I recently changed the setup of my studio and decided to buy UAD Apollo 8Duo Thunderbolt.
Apart from a few minor problems with the installation, I am very satisfied with this product.
Solid and well built product, remarkable quality.
The software console is beautiful.
And then there are the fabulous plug-ins ... only side a little 'negative is the cost of plugins ....
Now we will start to record ....

Apollo 8 Quad is an amazing interface. Would give 5/5 rating if the unit had midi I/O and included a thunderbolt cable.

Excelente!
Todavía estoy probando funciones de la interface, me parece excelente. Los peamps, la consola, las posibilidades que brinda, etc. Muy estable en Mac. Usando en Pro Tools. Genial !!! Lo único que agregaría nuevamente para la próxima versión son los 4 Line In separados como era en la versión Silver. El resto es excelente!!

CPU overloads?
2.2 GHz i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Macbook Pro.
Getting random CPU overloads in Pro Tools 2018.4 with the Apollo 8 Quad thunderbolt.
Happens fairly often, even when in an empty session with two only two default audio tracks. Their is no noticeable CPU spike in the system usage in both console and Pro Tools.
Didn't happen with a M-Track, and fairly sure my computer should be able to handle this no problem. IDK.

Still Worthy
So even though I just upgraded from an Apollo Twin Duo (which was state of the art when it came out), to an Apollo 8 Duo with the complimentary satellite Quad, I feel like I'm slightly behind the curve as the next generation of these things from other companies is really coming on. With Thunderbolt 3 out of the starting gate things are going to change.
There are some things about this Apollo that I love and other things that I know are going to be replaced by better, faster and way more efficient interfaces. The competition is already bringing out 12 channels.
The USA build is what sets the Universal Audio stuff apart now in 2018. More for less or the same from others at a cheaper price tag. REMEMBER: "You get what you pay for in this day and age!!!" So if this were 2014 instead of 2018 I'd give it 5 stars. It's not, so by today's standards 4 out 5 stars in 2018. Loads of room for improvements as the other companies have already addressed . No silver bullets in this level of the game yet.

I upgraded from 4 channel interface to Apollo 8
The converters are as good as I've heard (compared with RME and Apogee)
The user interface is so intelligent, straight forward and easy to use for non tech clever people.
The mixer console is amazing and let's you monitor and/or print all your channels, latency free through whichever of their awesome plugins you have.

Great - but wish it had grouped outputs.
Apollo 8 is an awesome piece of kit. However I wish it were possible to group outputs for surround applications.

Great interface, not so good drivers
This interface is one of the best specially paired with an external clock to bring out some mids and butter up the punchy lowend a bit while making it a bit less thumpy and more precise, it sounds amazing but apparently the intelligence agencies love making it pop and crackle and they are complying with them.
I've read things such as 17 percent load on an on a quad DSP idling = The manufacturer Broke the Driver and hence you get pops and crackles, 19-21-23 % load on a quad dsp idle means you're in the "SAFE ZONE"

Mostly happy...
So, I have a lynx l22... the 8p clock runs the lynx amazingly! The d/a on the lynx seems noticeably larger, deeper, and it has a bigger image. The UAD output sounds very 2D to me until you bypass the output gain stage... once you do... it seems to have a little more detail than the lynx, but it’s still not as fun to listen to.
Regarding, a/d, the 8p line in converters seemed to edge out the lynx... the 8p feels more accurate and coherent... the bass is deeper, the highs both, more present and smoother...
In all, I’m very happy... ultimately I’m still doing my final d/a with the lynx on the UAD clock, while taking advantage of the UADs awesome a/d converters...
Adding the plugins and the thunderbolt drivers to the deal makes it worth it.
Side note: the first one I got had a nasty problem with channel 1!... UAD was quick to help and I managed to get a pristinely operating replacement... I feel shipping mistreatment probably was the culprit... the exterior box arrived punctured and the inside one was dented. Can’t blame UA for that...
The unison preamps are remarkable too... not quite the “lushness” with the 610 emulation I was hoping for, but definitely clarity and depth...
Overall, I’m very happy with the a/d and not so much the d/a. I feel they should work on this for future models. My analog volume trim pot was a blatant ugrade over the Apollo’s volume trim... I bypassed the UAD output gain stage for a very obvious and instant improvement in depth and transient response. That was disappointing, because I was hoping to utilize the fcn button...

Exactly what you'd expect from a legend
A very welcome addition to the collection, the Apollo 8 pres are everything you hear. Very transparent, plenty of headroom and I cant stop playing with the Neve emulations (88RS and 1073). Truly astounding sonic performance. Downsides are the plugin manager (really people, please figure out a way to display only purchased plugins...) and the way DSP resources are allocated, but technical limitations are what drive innovation.

Great product, wish there was more "getting started" info.
I love the apollo and am impressed with its power & quality, but I am quite frustrated with the lack of thorough getting-started content, especially videos. With a product like this, I would expect to find ample content about changing settings, best practices, etc. However, I'm stuck digging through forums trying to figure out basic controls.

Best solution currently available for small studios
The mk2 Apollo makes a noticeable improvement on converter quality. This was the one dealbreaking feature that kept me from jumping on board with the original silver face units. The new Unison plugins are very DSP intensive, so I do wish UAD made the quad core standard instead of the duo and an octo available as the flagship model. Or better yet, please find a way to use my thunderbolt octo satellite to add to my available Unison DSP resources (I know there are technical hurdles but it would be an unbelievable update if possible).
