DSP Power
UAD-2 Satellite is powerful, and makes running the plugins great. Nice addition with my Apollo Twin and it's beautiful thus far. It's great to have the power for more plugins.

Finally no lack of resources
With 8 cores I don't need to lack resources any longer. It works as a charm together with my old 2 cores UAD Satellite FW card.
Even if the UAD Card and plugins doesn't support OS X Mojave at the time of writing this, it still works under OS X Mojave (I had no chance to roll back to an older OS X as the new Mac came with OS X Mojave).
The only thing I don't like is I had to buy a Thunderbolt 2 version as the USB C version doesn't support my new Mac with USB C ports. There were no adaptor included and Apple takes a lot of cash for their adaptors...
In total Im very happy with my purchase

Got much power with this one 4 core UAD satellite, but this device bring you wide power options exactly, no other option.

satellite fire wire DSP
I have manage to set it up on Mac high Sierra 10.13.6 is working good, the plugin sound like
sound like analog mixer. I was planing to buy analog mix,after all I thought analog mixer will be my lesson to learn how to mix, I wish my zero sl can map to control the plugin to start to learn to mix with UAD PLUGIN DSP POWER I like the power it give me to mix, I am planing to buy apollo. I want to know if thunderbolt apollo can work with (thunder bolt to fire wire) to daisy chain with my satellite fire wire. thanks UAD AND THE FOLLOW SUPPORT TEAM AND THE FOLLOWERS KEEP GOOD WORK IN FUTURE AND CARRY ON TO MAKE GOOD WANDERFULL PRODUCT.

Easy and powerfull
Francly this device will boost up you system. The informatic world is leading towards less weight on the cpu, so UAD has the technology to let you manage big projects with ease. I own two of them....i am very happy. I wish we could rack mont'em, i did it anyways with a DIY solution.

Thunderbolt Apollo & Satellite
Well, I first thought that the Satellite wasn't a very useful device. But I changed my mind : it is absolutely necessary ! My Apollo Quad wasn't able to manage enough plug-ins at mixdown, and even sometimes when tracking. Now I can afford about 35 plug-ins ata the same time ( I've read some review talking about 70, but frankly I couldn't run so many) . And that's enough for me...for the moment. I wonder how it could works with more consistant plug-ins, as I only use the legacy ones from the Classic Bundle.
Anyway, the main advantage ot all this, is that now my computer's CPU is sleeping most of the time ! So the DAW (Logic Pro X on Retina Mac ) is available for other tasks.
Now everything is thundebolted and apollised, no latency at all (great when overdubbing) .
By the way, let me tell I'm making songs in my home studio. No tronics but only miking everything from acoustics to electrics ( vox, guitars, basses, drums, keys, saxes and so on ) .

Quad satellite
This my first experience with uad plugs and they sound great. I just wish they could run from my computer as well as the satellite as I have maxed out the satellite's dsp more than once and I have a powerful computer that could easily pick up the slack. Also you could at least throw a thunderbolt cable in the box couldn't you? Rather annoying when you want to try out a new toy you've just forked out a decent wedge for and immediately find you have to go out and buy a thunderbolt cable before you can.

What can I say about the satellite other than sometimes, MORE is MORE, and when it comes to being able to instantiate my favorite UAD plugins, the more CPU, the better. This thing is a breeze to get up and running. The only downside is that it installs ALL of the UAD software again, (I already was running an Apollo) so I had to go through the folders and move out the plugins I don't own to keep them from showing up in my DAW menus. I wish you could opt out of that part with a simple prompt, but other than that, it's wonderful.

Works awesome. Really needs rack ears.
All the plugins are amazing as advertised. No problems whatsoever there and really happy with all of my choices. It's certainly helping extend the life of my Mac Pro until they come out with new ones (whenever that is).
I really need to rack mount this thing though, and it's been a major headache figuring that out. In the end, I'm having some custom made and that is, not ideal… Please make some damn rack ears for these, I'd even buy them separately.

Mobile Powerhouse
It's super convenient to take my UAD satellite remote so I can work on mixes anywhere. What a great addition to my UAD Apollo setup!

UAD Thunderbolt Satellite
Plugged the UAD in to my Zenbook and it started working immediately. Super clean real pro sound. It works with both Sonar and Reason with no problems.
One can't always use four effects per track depending on which are being used, but the UAD definitely provides quality effects that are provided with no drain on a CPU. Nice!

Hot & Thunderblolt
UAD 2 Satellite Octo get warm to (hot) quickly, even without use or little use of plug-ins. There is no fan cooling, but the device works and i hope for a long time.
The Thunderbolt port is not buspowerd, there is not a real link.

Great headroom
Along with Apollo 8 I have great headroom for plugins, but its not easy to place it in a rack.

great gear for the best plugins available on the market bar none
I'm a massive UA fan and have been for some time. Sure I've had a few issues with gear in the past but when it works it is quite simply the best.
The only reason this gets 4 stars instead of 5 is the fact that I'm hitting my limit with plugs in regards to both DSP and PGM at times and I feel that shouldn't be happening with the amount of plugs running when it happens, and I would prefer if some plugins were not so heavy on the resources (such as the SSL E channel strip) but as mentioned the plugs this gear enables me to run are quite simply the best there are
