Sound City Studio
This has to be one of the coolest reverb plugins i have used in a long time. Super easy to use and it make the source sound wide and open. Putting this on your dry drum bus will instantly take you into the era of Sound City Studios and get those magical tones that the room is so famous for. I love it!

I'm having tons of fun with this plug. Used it on various things like keys, vocals and drums. Works great on parallel as well. It's gives so much more depth to anything I add it to, in a way I cannot easily achieve with anything else. Very cool.

Wonderful sounding "Sound City" Plug-in...
I really like this plugin from UAD! The sounds really enhance the properties of the rooms, mic's and over all tones from the instruments, I'm primarily a guitarist so I'm looking for genuine guitar tones, either Mic's, IR, Direct or Modeling, that "realizm" that most musicians demand. I'm in the studio [session musician livelihood] about everyday and I was looking for a plugin of this quality, not just a replication of a room but where UAD actually took the time to "Model" every variable. I was using [from time to time] a program model after a famous Hollywood Recording Studio, that was more process sounding than an actual room. So far after a few days of critical listening and with the help of a few industry engineers, my results are Amazing!!! The CPU from my experience, is a little more than some plugins, but the few on submixes are reading around 28% and that's with tracks filled, and my RME buffer size at 64 Samples [latency] extremely low, 8 core 32gigs of ram, my computer runs solid. Very pleased with this product!

Fantastic…. But we need console version
This plugin is stellar. The room emulation, all the modules, the verb, compressor, Dolby A trick…. love it…. But the biggest reason I use UAD as a guitarist and engineer, is to be able to print things in tracking stage with console. Im not sure why this plugin was only released in Native. I could really benefit from tracking through it. I’ll be the first to change to a 5 star review if a console version gets released.

The plugin sounds great! As soon as you use it on one element of your mix you can already feel the depth, the dynamic, eq & chamber modules sound great! The reverb mode is great on vocals & great on drums in parallel!

I was impressed within seconds of setting up this plug-in. The room modelling is so full of character that every instrument I tested opened up to a new dimension. The choice of mics and the movement of mic placement offers such a wide range of possibilities that I was simply blown away. It has exceeded my testing phase and I can't wait to use it on upcoming projects.

This is impressive without a doubt.
UA really delivered with this amazing plugin. I never thought that they could do what they did. Recording in many professional studios over the years knowing that sound you can get in these rooms with added room mics that you can fully control can raise a dead mix from its grave alive and electrified. My only gripe is no DSP version. I emailed UA about that and I was told it is impossible to do this in DSP. They wouldn't tell me why. Of well but it would have been really nice for Us guys who are running 2 Octo's. Luckily my new M1 Mac Pro can handle it. We can't always get what we want even though we still got it lol. Great Job Guys...

I like it.
I like this plugin. The sound is excellent. CPU usage is not too much for me. Max 2% / plugin. (Ryzen 5 3600, Reaper 7, WIN10).
I understand problem with CPU usage the old computer owners.
That there is none support with DSP and they are angry.
The fact is that it is easier to make a native version.
The fact that the native version reaches more people.

Sound City Reverb Incredible recreation
Want a reverb that has been used for years on many Top Selling songs by many Top Artists then get this one. It may well become my Go-To reverb as I've only had it for a few weeks and so Far it been Great. addition to my collection.

Great Plug-In
I was working on a rock mix when I purchased SCS. I immediately found good use of the plug-in. I needed something to make the toms more lively, but not reverb. I have used it on guitar too. I am very happy with my purchase.

don't believe the anti-hype
This plugin is fantastic. I'm normally using dynamic impulse responses from a certain Italian company, and this holds up with less CPU resources.
The great advantage here is the flexibility from the captures and some of the dynamic modules are fantastic. It's a giant detour to very short ambiences that would normally take a lot of work to put together with other plugins (and would likely not function as effectively).
Also, don't pay too much attention to the modules' names, "vocal" ambiences on drums are unique in a very hard to match way for me, while the drum ones sound more like a "chamber."
Incredibly useful altogether.

the reverb that was missing!
The reverb that was missing! Great for vocal backgrounds (which perfectly define the frequencies and relief unlike traditional reverbs which often generate an indigestible soup!) and Top for DRM or guitars. Finally a quality "studio" sound, so, looking forward to other reverbs to convolution from other studios (eg: Bath/UK and others) from UAD...

Great, but why native only?
This is a fantastic plugin that goes beyond just being a room emulation, but it's a DSP sucker! Please release a UAD-Apollo version so I can take advantage of the expensive interface and satellite I purchased specifically to lighten the load on my CPU.

Sadly, in practice it's virtually useless as it swallows your CPU like nothing i've ever seen in all of my career. Even my heaviest mastering plugins ain't got nothing on this frivolous bauble. Just a real dang shame. Luckily i bought it on a sale but i feel bad for people who pay top dollar for Sound City Studio. Brand loyalty: damaged

…it may be a good fit, it may not, but dragging down the star rating over UAD’s current marketing strategy doesnt give anyone insight into the plugin itself.
Which for me is great! So far I have only been using it on drums but after experimenting with different configurations I found it enhanced my drum sound and gave me insight into why certain records recorded there sounded the way they did.
I can’t ask for more than that.
