Awesome character
Using this chain: Ampex ATR 102, Shadows hills mastering comp, Manley eq and Precision limiter the results were amazing! I had to use very little eq.
To get the same results without the Ampex and shadow hills required a lot more eq and it didn't sound as big....For me this is the way to go from now on.

Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor Plug-In
The most perfect plug-in for gluing everything in a mix .
It gives the mix a special masking that I have never experienced before.
I use it in mastering , on vocals and voice over recordings and it does MAGIC.

Very good indeed
Last year I bought decent hardware compressor which I use mainly for mastering purposes. I have noticed the difference and I thought that soft compressor will not be useful for critical instances in my studio anymore. I was wrong.
This compressor blew me out. Closest to the hardware I have ever seen. Very versatile with the nickel / iron / steel switch, which reminds me the "iron" switch in Joemeek compressor. But it can also sound vesy subtle with the "nickel" on. Very musical sounding. I am not sure if it can replace a 2K$ hardware but it is the best software compressor on the market.

This plugin is elegantly subtle in the way that it applies it effect. First rate as a mastering compressor plugin.

It's a precise dual stage compressor. Screw the bad reviews. The harmonics
are rich and refined that it's quite hard to believe it's a software. The female vocals preset is brilliant and totally usable with a few tweaks on the gains. Crazy details without add unwanted lo-mids or taking away the body or lo end of the source. Cool Stuff.

Very clean sounding
Very clean sounding. Using for stereo busses and pre-mastering. I like it and I have tube outboard and most of the U.A. compressor plug-ins. On sale helps!

Sounds like a Compressor!
I never heard or had opportunity to work with the harware unit but can say that after demoing this plugin and thinking about it for a while decided to take advantage of UA's great 30-40-50 sale.
This simply sounds like a great compressor, and I haven't gotten the same flavor out of any other in my collection. It really does sound great on the 2 Buss and love it on the Drum Buss as well.
Mixed a Jazz session and used this on the 2 Buss, comparing it to several others that I love and this MONSTER took the cake. It has a quality I love, maybe distortion, in a gentle way. Not sure.

Great plugin.
The Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor does take a little bit of time to get used to, but depending on the kind of material it's presented with, the results can run from mediocre to quite brilliant. What I do know from my own tests is that this plugin doesn't deliver the goods at all when the source material isn't well recorded - or if the mix buss isn't setup properly. Initially, I wasn't too sure about this plugin but I'm glad I spent the time getting to grips with it. Well done UA.

wow. what is this thing doing?! it's adding so much richness and character while being so flexible! the range of different sounds you can achieve using the shadow hill is enormous: from subtle compression - to little fatting - to merciless pumping, but: all time adding this punch and openness. transparence. musicality..... there are so many words to describe it, but better get the demo and be impressed yourself.
this one got my favorite compressor on the 2-bus, but does an awesome job on almost anything else: vocals. bass. drumbus. guitars....... while not needing too much DSP (5.7% in mono or stereo use.... compared to Fatso 25,6% mono / 40,7% stereo.... or Teletronix LA2A 16,2% mono / 21,2% stereo..... WOW!

Shadow Hills Compressor
Fantastic! I actually still have over 200 days of a complimentary demo left on it but bought the licence because it so cool. Love the selection of Nickel etc. really nice touch that has some great results. It is such a natural sounding device to have at hand that holds a really sympathetic but important position in a project like another band member!!!
I got a years kind of endorsement trial of all the plugs to help me decide what are essential for me and Shadow Hills is defo in with the essentials. It's in there!!!!

it's just awesome... will take me a year or more to get really good at understanding this but then again all UAD stuff requires a good amount of time to learn and really understand intuitively... WINNING!

Don't try this plugin cause you'll buy it. I would put it on my bread if I could. A real beautyfier for just about anything.
