Exactly what I had hoped for.
I wanted a great *sounding* interface, first and foremost. Over a 2 month period, I actually auditioned several competing boxes from other companies — doing critical listening at my home studio, which I know well. The Apollo 8 sounded at least as good if not better than the others, and having the plugins library was like the gravy on top. Highly recommended.

Great I/O. Exp though!
Love the IO on this. Esp the dual ADAT. I just wish it could handle 16 channel over the dual ADAT. 8 Each!
I've even used the SPDIF on it when transferring DAT tapes. Could do with 2x XLR on the front for hot plugging.

Very impressive sound
The hardware has high quality component. Sound very clear and transparent. The only thing bad is when you want to make surround is a bit difficult. You need an external monitor control. The knob only controls channel 1 and 2, not the all channel surround. For the rest, very good hardware.

super buena

Apollo 8 Duo
This is a very nice user friendly interface. It was essential to get my head around the software and the hardware and to understand the relationship between the two. I was in a few situations where i found the headphone out not working or the monitor speaker speakers with no sound and traced it back to something I did in the software that caused the hardware not to respond. Once I master these issues I will feel a bit more comfortable,. I have been using the unit to master some tunes i wrote also just using the plug ins in real time with the internet to "fix" things on the fly that I hear and think i can improve on. I'm having a lot of fun and I enjoy having 2 sets of monitors that i can switch to for a change in Audio. This interface has definitely improved my musical life and I have no regrets with my purchase. I did have a moment when I thought the Apollo twin duo with a smaller foot print, as well as being portable might have also worked for me, but I think that I will be overjoyed once the Satellite (bonus)arrives. I can always carry that on the road for access to my plug in's with an Apogee interface which works for both my iPad and MBP. I gave it 4 stars as I can't choose your plugins and when the Satellite arrives I will have duplicate plug ins again. Also I wish that when I use The Apollo 8 with Logic that only the plugins I have showed, instead of everyone that UA has to makes. That word improve my workflow.

Incredible Product - Could Use Some Quality Improvements
The Apollo Interface is a game changer throughout. I can't say enough about the plugins and the quality of sound with the interface.
However..
Dear UA,
Please spend $3 more on the knobs. They feel cheaper than my first Mbox.
Sincerely,
Alex

Build like a tank, sounds like a 1073, Api, Chandle...
I love the UA Apollo 8. Lots of powerful tools yet easy to use and understand.

Loving it so far!
Beautiful and versatile piece of equipment that has worked seamlessly for me thus far... My only issue preventing the 5 star rating (I suppose relatively minor) is the lack of being able to level compensate the mono function in console which is proving to be a touch more than a touch painful. PLEASE, PLEASE sort this out guys and I will happily award you the missing star ;)

Great buy
If your looking for a complete package at a decent price that would give you pro-level results then look no further.. However there are 2 things id like to address and that is 1. I wish they had a possible switch to move between 2 monitors so its easy to compare the sound. 2. It works more efficiently with the satellite. with out it just 3 ocean way plug ins are good enough to kill the DSP

ITS COOL I GUESS
I have the silver quad apollo and now the black one, and the difference is so subtle between the (silver/black) you will miss it. I don't regret buying it at all it brings a wonderful touch to my production in a live application, the great part is its clocking man thats crazy how everything talks to each other.. GREAT JOB UA

Total Solution for home producers!!

Awesome!
Upgrading from a Focusrite, the sound quality and conversion boost was worth the money.

Apollo Quad 8 is stellar!
I mix for a two time Grammy winning band and this was a quick and easy set up. I was VERY surprised at the D/A conversion. So much more depth, width and clarity compared to my Lynx Aurora mastering converter. Also the mic pres are clean and warm. The tracking technology through plugins is phenomenal. Got the best headphone mix I have ever experienced and of course mixing with the UAD plugins has just been so eye opening. So much more warmth, punch and clarity without being shrill sounding like many other plugin companies can be. I am floored. Wish I would have jumped on the UAD bandwagon early in my career. I didn't give it five stars only because I wish it had just a wee bit more juice running the plugins but their sound quality makes up for it.

APOLLO 8 versus FIREFACE UCX and UFX
I had an Apollo first generation and 2 RME Interfaces (UCX and UFX). Last week I took part of an upgrade program von UA and got a new Apollo 8... A few years earlier I wrote here that my RME UCX/UFX was far better as my Apollo first generation. That was my opinion till I had an Apollo 8 in my setup. Now I must say: well done UA. The sound of my new Apollo 8 is really in many ways really better as the sound that I got from RME UXC and UFX. At this point I also have to say that my RMEs are 3 years old. Unfortunately I couldn't compare the new Apollo 8 with another RME's brand new product like the UFX+.
PS: I still think that UA should offer a remote control stand alone in order to controll some settings

Great
I am new to UA, and I find the Apollo8 quad and the console software a real pleasure. It's got a sense of quality. Bit disappointed at the combi connector. I would rather have all possibilities run to the patchbay but I can't... I have to choose whether I use the mic pre's or the lines. Otherwise i'm crawling around the back. Minor annoyance, but still worth mentioning.

Got a replacement unit
Pretty nicely handled by UA. I didn't notice anything wrong with the first one but the exchange program worked well. I'm super happy.

Satisfied Overall
The unit sounds good to me. Of course, I enjoy my collection and function of UAD plugins. Here are my main judgements:
Pros:
-Sufficient i/o for my needs
-Ample flexibility of console software
-Quality audio AD/DA...I'm not too fussy about that
Cons:
-For a metallic box, I would have preferred metal buttons and knobs. The plastic feel of the volume knob is a bit awkward.
-Proprietary power cord. I would have preferred a standard IEC cable.
I've only owned this unit for a month (upgraded from Apollo Twin), and will update this review after I put more hours in.
