Time for an upgrade!
I've always enjoyed UA products (I have a 6176) and a few of my friends own UA products. So when it was time to upgrade my studio, everyone suggested the UA Apollo 8 Tunderbolt. This was the best decision/investment I've made! It's so classic, and the mic preamps are wonderful, giving you that warm analog sound! I plan to purchase another one (perhaps the Apollo Twin or 8p) by the end of the year!

AWESOME!! Best interface ever.
I recently upgraded from the Apollo twin because of the sweet offer UA was having with a rack mount plus free satellite. I can honestly say that the quality is amazing I noticed a big difference in my projects in how detailed the sound is witch is incredible. This has been the biggest impact on my music in upgrading to universal audio and I plan to experiment with up and coming plugins in the near future. If you are on the subject on upgrading your audio interface and came across universal audio, well I can tell you, you will not be disappointed. Amazing sound quality for price that is equivalent to its name.

it would be nice to have thunderbolt cable with it.
so it's really a ready to use ship in box.
other than that is the best interface ever.
If the console 2 can arrange the core audio track in the setting by dragging or even choose NOT ONLY 8, 16, 32, 64 ,128 in/out number would be perfect.

Apollo 8 Duo (eurorack modular user)
I've recorded for years using a Yamaha AW4416 hard disk recorder and liked it pretty well. But I've had an itch to try bridging my world of analog synthesis with Ableton Live. I got the Apollo and Live in the same week and am working to wrap my head around all the possibilities. The ability to use plugins in real time is completely revolutionary to my workflow. I've gone a bit nuts in the UAD store and picked up a slew of plugins. Each is like a magical adventure. Things sound so crisp now and my Mackie HR824s have never been happier! I've also begun exploring the world of lightpipe communications between my Mac/Apollo/Expert Sleepers ES3/6, and modular using Silent Way. This ecosystem is VAST and my Apollo is the centerpiece. Well pleased.

This is truly a great unit. It's powerful, sounds great, flexible and contains all the connections you would want. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to put together a home to pro studio.

Best Interface I've Ever Owned!
Without naming any other brands, I've coming to the realization that I've been cheating myself for years. The quality of Universal Audio's Apollo 8 is undeniable and probably the smartest musical decision I've made in my entire life.

Great Audio Interface!
I upgraded from the Apollo Twin because they offered free satellite with the purchase of the the Apollo 8 by 31 Dec 2015....SWEET DEAL! Ok back to the review...Its the best interface I ever owned the sound of my recording are so clear!!!!!! The clarity is ridiculously GOOD! The plugins are outstanding but are a little pricey IMO...I guess you have to pay to play. The quality is amazing!

Weil man fast alle Plug Ins Latenz-frei auf die Eingangssignale legen kann, ist es für mich so genial. Jetzt habe ich die tollsten Channel Strips und Röhrenkompressoren für mein Mikro, die ich mir in echt niemals hätte leisten können. Ein klarer Vorteil, der den Preis mehr als rechtfertigt.

I am upgrading from RME Fireface 400 wich is aslo is great but Apollo 8 is better in all aspects!

Good sound!
I bought the first time a product of Universal Audio.I think Unison technology is easy to use without any latency.Preamp of Apollo is very clean and there is no extra coloring.You may use the Unison technology if you want a special sound.My favorite plug-in is a Neve 1073 Preamp & EQ and UA 610 Tube Preamp & EQ.

Best Interface Ever!
I have been using an Avid HD Native Thunderbolt Onmi and this unit is 100 times better in every-way. The converters sound better, the drivers are better, and the workflow is much better. I must say tracking with the best plugins in the world is pretty nice. I also find it to be much more stable with Pro Tool 12 than my Avid hardware. I like the fact that Universal audio keeps the drivers up to date regularly. What a great company! I would also like to mention that there is nothing better in this price point. I would highly recommend this unit! Thanks UA!

Best sound I've ever had
For me it was an "cheep" and much better solution... for silent rehearsal and recording.
The Apollo 8 outputs are connected analog to an Allen&Heath QU-PAC with the ME1 system.

Apollo 8...Simply Great
We are so fortunate to be in this era of technology and the impact it has had on Home Studios. I have gone from analog tape to digital and during that transition there was something clearly missing. With UA's Apollo 8 and the UAD-2 platform we have not only gained the warmth of analog but we have surpassed the audio quality. The 4 Unison pre's on this unit are pristine and using the Unison technology to track with a Neve 1073 Preamp and EQ for example is outstanding. You can bypass the Pre's however if you wish if you own a great standalone pre. I am very excited about this product and feel like I have what it takes now to push out some quality productions. Be sure to get enough DSP however as I find myself reaching more and more for the amazing plugins like the Manley Massive Passive Eq. Outstanding sound and space that it creates. Additionally I have purchased the Apollo Twin Duo which works great together with the Apollo 8...I am able to keep the Twin on my desktop and use it to quickly adjust line and volume settings. Universal Audio is one of those companies that simply satisfies me as a consumer. Amazing quality and the support is great!

Exceptional Sound in particular analog/digital and digital/analog converter - no color ! No fatigue of listening during operation !
Good electrical adjustment of analog Ins and Outs
Good and stable software integration of UADs console in DAW plus flexible routings from DAW, to DAW, digital and analog ins and outs. Important the option of using consoles recall in every single individual DAW session. Nothing is left to chance.
Probably in further releases an automation of console would be appreciated (e.g. vol, balance etc plus plug in functions) !!?
The housing of the Apollo 8 is very stable as stable as my two UREI 1176LN which I run for about 30 years. No obvious quality spreads itself in the fact that the device is manufact. in China.

Apollo 8 Duo Outstanding!!!
Upgraded from Apogee & UAD Sat Quad FW to the Apollo 8 Duo TB plus UAD Sat Quad TB for my home studio.
I have been really blown away by the improved sound quality of my recordings. and love the real-time tracking ability, the features and ease of use of the device and Console software, the level of integration with Logic and extendability of the system. I regularly used UA plug-ins before, but the Unison technology takes them to another level. Just outstanding!!!
