Wow man! That's what my mixes were missing.
This damn thing applies butter on my prickly and thorny mix. Just a touch of it is enough to make everything sound smooth and present. Don't push it hard you don't need that. All types of tapes with different flavors, just can't get enough. My mixes use to hit hard on my ears esp. with lots of harsh eqs and comps. That harshness is gone but the presence is still there,THAT'S THE GAME. I use on my Mix Buss. Actually i mix with it on. Tape type GP9, Cald at +6 and Head 1/4" ahh! much better now. Of course tweak the eq setting,noise shaping, wow and flutter. Transformer if u need, keeps things in place.

I've been working on mastering for 5 years. Last December I've bought my new Apollo 8. I demoed many plugins but the first one I decided to buy is ATR-102. I so like how it works in my mastering chain! It's excellent!

Amazing for Electronic Drums
Really brings out the character of electronic based drums from outboard gear to samples. Brings great character that is usually lost working with computer samples and sound.

Amazing!!
I never imagined that a plugin could produce so many different audio colors and still be dead easy to use. Adds warmth to every mix I do and glues all the parts together when used on the Master fader. Great presets also. I couldn't decide between this or the SSL Bus Compressor. Glad I got the Ampex since I can fine tune the sound I want.

When your working in the Digital world you just cant get the same tonal characteristics of your favourite records from the past... this is the bridge into that other world!

Glues everything together! Makes everything sound so natural and bigger.. UAD plugs are fantastic and this is no exception!!

The perfection made plugin
Is this the real life? is this just fantasy? Nope, This Ampex is real and it rocks! Probably you will wait for a boom and over volumed sound...but this works on sounds detail making the audio great, comprehensive, and rich. This plugin is a MUST in your audio weapon arsenal.

can't live without it
since I purchased my apollo and my ampex atr102 I cannot pass without using it on the mix bus. It lives there, basically. You can get real smooth tape compression and eq out of it. MILES AWAY from every other tape emulation..

A game changer
Among the most "bang-for-bucks" purchase that can be done on the UAD store! It took me less than 15mn, when I demoed this one for a specific mastering purpose, to realize how much it would be efficient to use it more often. From single track to master bus, every step is potentially eligible to be "taped" in the process.
I can never regret the money I spent, would even pay more if asked...

It changed my tracks definitely
The Ampex ATR102 is one of the best (diffiicult to say what is the best) UA plug in. I tryed for the test 14 days period, and after that I bought it. Amazing on every channel, especially on basses and vocals for me.

My favorite mastering tool
I have been trying this and actually used it on a Master before I bought it.
Because of the pretty steep price I've been hesitant to buy it but now that I've used it and heard what it can do I have been waiting for an opportunity to buy it at the right price. So Black Friday @ UA was the best christmas gift I could ever hop for.
That subtle distortion at the top end is just beautiful!!!
Anyway just so there is no misunderstanding....WE LOOOOOVE THE Ampex ATR-102 here @ Freisig Media Studio's

Flagship UAD plugin :)
I was surprised how different this is to the Studier A800 - I was choosing between them and ended up with both! This has a more aggressive sound when pushed - great for rockier drums etc and mix processing etc.
I simply can't imagine not having this plugin now...

Can't say enough good things
Fatness! Width! so juicy!! I love this and is one of my all time UAD faves! Add it to your bus on master bus and see the magic happen! NO tape emulation even comes close!

That last little bit of something
This Tape emulator is more subtle than the Studer 800 but is also more adjustable. While the Studer is great on the individual tracks or instrument busses this works great on the final Mix Buss or as a Mastering tool. That doesn't mean you can't use it on instruments it is just better at being more subtle.

High range is beautiful and glossy compared with a plug-in made by other company.
It's recommended to mastering and a vocal.
