Even Better Than I Thought

Crazy quality and sound
I've always wanted to understand why API sound has such an excellent reputation, after all I've always turned my attention to other channel strips usually related to brands like SSL or Neve.
I decided to try it and touch first-hand what it is. Ok, the game is over, I bought it right after because it has a beautiful sound, the sound that was missing from my trusted armory, today I can say that I use it as a priority compared to other channel strips, it's just beautiful.
The pre section gives an excellent harmonic contribution, especially if pumped to high levels and even more so if you want to become bad with the Mic mode. Nice the high pass filter already in the pre section, sometimes it's enough alone to sculpt a loop that's too swollen at the bottom.
The filters are very musical and allow a never drastic facelift but always full of musicality, I was really surprised.
I continue by saying that only the compressor is worth the amount that the plugin costs, I would say that it is able to control every type of signal without ever being pumped, it cuts the dynamics even by several dB without ever destroying the sound. Depending on the type of sound you want you can select one of the two retro or more modern modes, both beautiful depending on the situation, I love it. I used it on a semi-acoustic guitar and a particularly dynamic voice and the result was absurd.
Here I am at the eq: initially it was not easy to get into the perspective of using steps at 2dB at a time and at fixed frequencies but once you understand how to use it to the best you realize that those frequencies are all you need, the four bands are perfect to find the perfect sound and shape everything.
I wanted to wait to write a review to avoid falling into the excess of enthusiasm of a newly private novelty. After days of use I can only say that I love it, it give a beautiful and decisive sound, certainly its sound identity is clear and defined in the mid-highs but without ever becoming sour, in fact it was what I feared and fortunately it was not. The API sound usually remind to the rock genre but I use it with great satisfaction for jazz and pop/funk mixes.
This experience with Universal Audio made me touch the great quality related to the UA brand, I congratulate the developers.

If you know what an actual multi track reel to reel sounds like, you’ll be familiar with the sound that this plug in imparts. It’s amazing to be honest and will save a ton of time and physical tape cost in the future. Not that I’d get rid of the actual machines, but I can see a lot more ease of use and sonic benefits from this wonderful emulation of a tried and true classic.

Super plug-in jedoch gibt es wenige, bis gar keine ausführlichen Videos zu wo grundsätzlich erklärt wird wie es eingesetzt werden kann und wie genau es funktioniert.
Somit tut man sich als Anfänger ein wenig schwer mit dem plug-in zu arbeiten.
Würde mich auf jeden Fall freuen wenn jemand ein genaues Video dazu macht!

Tape goodness
I have tried other tape emulators but this one has some real character and makes a sonic difference. Even just adding it to my tracks on the default setting gives them some analog goodness. I do like tweaking the settings on slower tape speeds for bass and drum tracks. Loving it!!

spark is a waste of time
the ilok on spark never works, it is incredibly frustrating as it works on some plug ins and and not on others and changes regularly. Universal Audio customer support is nonexistent, takes weeks to get back and never really give an answer, yet they can send 3 emails a day selling their products! it's pretty shameful

"Oxide" your tracks!
I never expected that this type of tape saturation would give so much character, quality and also presence to the instruments respectively and clearly depending on how it was recorded and what is used.
With a few movements and depending on the results it shows, it is perfect to give it that "Presence" that we all seek quickly and to be as neutral as possible, although the latter one must "witness" it properly to understand it, at least in my opinion.
Without a doubt a necessary Plugin for any studio.

Next Level... API 2500!
A compressor that can do everything, can give you color, character, quality, vintage according to your needs, although personally it stands out in the "mix bus", it clearly depends on whether you have done a mix with "definition" or simply that your work is coordinated efficiently,the truth is that it has a very good process.
I totally recommend it.

¿Need Power? Take it, Don't Worry.
Pultec, what you need to give it that character, precision and other functionalities, respectively.
Fully recommended for mastering, especially the "EQP", I don't really know what it has but it is very precise for what you use it for in mastering.

The Necesary for you Studio and Hobbies
A quality compressor, highly recommended for any genre.
His process for giving character, arranging tracks in the mixes is incredible, you don't have to stay listening until everything fits.
Although it is not its only strong point, it also comes with 3 compressors in total, where you can experiment everything you want!!!

Unique and Inspiring
I love the Hitsville Reverb for Boom Bap Hip Hop songs. I am not one to use 50 reverbs, 20 choruses, 14 delays, 18 compressors and 9 eqs in a mix. Get a few good plugs, learn how to bus, keep it simple, everything becomes cohesive and harmonizes better together. I use this as I unique verb, for an ENTIRE TRACK. Minus percussive elements like hats. Yeah, I throw Bass in the same reverb bus as snares, kicks, vocals, keys, strings. Eq the send signal of different elements, keeps it all from getting obtrusive and distractive. This plugin creates feeling that is unmatched. It has it's own eq settings as well, I use that section more for a tone. My signals are usually balnced by send volumes, and eq group prior to hitting it, just sound magnificent.
