ssl g buss compressor
I bought this on impulse when it was on special without checking the demo version first. I had expected great results, but to be honest given the hype, but I was quite disappointed. I have fab filter pro limiter last up in the mastering chain and the Neve VR88 master buss before the pro L. I think the Neve 88 is way more powerful and useful. perhaps the Fab filter pro Limiter does much of the job, but adding the SSL comp before the Pro L did very little to the final mix output sound. not enough wow to warrant the $250 in my opinion. I guess I should demo everything before purchasing anything. a bit disappointed I was......

The perfect channel strip plugin. I don't have first hand experience of mixing on an SSL desk. But regardless, this is a very powerful plugin. Try, and you will buy :p

UNBELIEVABLE!
This is exactly what I hoped it will sound like but I thought it's not possible. I have experience with SSL hardware rack unit, Duality built in unit, c1 and a couple of clones I got to use in a different studios. I was also a big fan of Waves SSL plugin. The new UAD version it just incredible. I couldn't believe the amount of midrange it is pushing. It almost has too much punch. I really don't miss hardware. Thanks UAD.

So far, I'm loving it
I record choral groups frequently. SSL 4000 E Channel is quickly becoming a go-to plug-in to get the sound I want in post. It's amazing what can be done with this plug-in when used with several other UAD plug-ins such as the LA-2 Legacy compressor and the Oxide Tape emulation, even with less-than-ideal recordings made only with a small stereo digital recorder used in "stealth" mode.

A G-Buss Compressor with a Mix and Filter Knob!!! Yes!!!!!!!!
Instant side chain and parallel compressor heaven!!! I really love The mix Knob! So easy to compress and still maintain some transients. Great for your master buss!!! The mix knob and side chain control are why I had to have another G-Buss compressor in my collection! Great job UAD! The Mix knob and Side Chain control sold me!

Sounded amazing on the first try
I downloaded the plugin and set it up for an accoustic guitar. I used a AKG p 170 a relatively inexpensive mic. A little EQ and compression rolled off the low end and done. It sounds amazing.

Hate to use the ever-old cliches, but this thing makes my mixes sound SO punchy and fat! The perfect glue comp and saturation for my busses... And the side chain filter is a great workflow addition. Love it!

My own little SSL channel...
The SSL 4000 is quite something to behold. This unison channel is really great as a "Can't go wrong" unison-pre for recording, even just using the "Default" setting. I always print when I record, but I always go easy on the dynamics so that I have room for further monkey-business later. Still writing presets for this one. Love it.

What I needed
