Cost Accountant

Location: Scotts Valley, CA


Job Description

The Cost Accountant is responsible for cost accounting, product cost and margin reporting and analysis, cost management and process improvement. The responsibilities include monthly financial reporting and analysis, inventory analysis and reconciliation, periodic standard cost revisions and standard setting for new products, period cost and variance analysis, excess and obsolete and warranty reserve requirements. The position will also provide decision-making support on cost management initiatives. This position reports to the UA Accounting manger


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all elements of Cost of Sales including hardware standard cost, royalties, freight, promotions, warranty, overhead and inventory-related costs.
  • Maintain the standard costing process including setting and updating product standard costs, defining overhead rates and methodologies to accurately reflect product burden rates, assessing and updating the General Ledger chart of accounts, establishing interfaces between the inventory, sales order and purchase order modules, and defining ongoing reporting and review processes to support standard costing
  • Partner with Operations to establish targets for and monitor vendor purchase prices. Establish ongoing reporting to assess achievement of material cost reductions vs budget/forecast.
  • Prepare timely financial statements and analytical reports that are accurate and reliable. Analyze actual results vs. plan/forecast and work with management to investigate and explain variance.
  • Responsible for full month end closing activities including journal entries, analysis, verification, and preparation of supporting schedules.
  • Analyze Overhead Application Rates and over/under application.
  • Calculate, Analyze and monitor royalty costs associated with software plug-in sales. Establishing a standard costing process for software products to enable real-time margin analysis. Work with Accounts Payable to pay 3rd party licensors on a timely basis.
  • Complete gross margin analysis on a monthly basis for hardware and software products. Identify variances to budget/forecast, and underlying drivers of margin changes.
  • Ensure that physical inventory counts and reconciliation are completed with accuracy and compliance with internal/external audit requirements. Perform excess & obsolete and warranty reserve analysis and prepare journal entries. Maintain other reserves to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor daily postings of the cost transactions into GL accounts.
  • Forecast, tracking and analysis of Cost Improvement Projects and support of new product cost estimates through the NPI process.

Hardware Program Manager

A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in planning, executing and releasing integrated hardware/software products. The candidate must have experience in working with electrical, PCBA layout, mechanical, FPGA, FW and manufacturing engineering to plan and manage schedules, dependencies, assumptions and risks to provide confidence in being able to support the UA marketing and financial plans.


Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Product Management and engineering teams to clarify requirements and specifications to establish the program’s committed scope
  • Establish not-to-exceed COGS targets and work with Engineering and Purchasing to strive to keep the product design within the target
  • Establish the team schedule and milestones: tirelessly work to drive to the milestones reporting potential issues and risks as they arise

Hardware Test Engineer

Location: Scotts Valley, CA


Job Description

Universal Audio is seeking a Hardware Test Engineer to support the design verification of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA), FPGA code, and integrated hardware and software systems. This individual will be responsible to work with the design engineers to implement directed engineering tests, to write, coordinate and implement hardware verification plans, and to support the development of a hardware engineering test data management system.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute and report hardware test results to verify designs meet functional and performance specifications
  • Support PCBA development by designing and performing tests as directed by the lead design engineer
  • Work with Product Management and program lead engineers to define and document hardware specifications
  • Work with QA group to coordinate test plans
  • Support hardware debug and rework of PCBAs
  • Support test configuration preparation and setup for emissions, safety testing and Thunderbolt certification

Helpdesk/Workstation Support Technician

Location: Scotts Valley, CA


Job Description

The Helpdesk/ Workstation Support Technician is responsible for the management of the Helpdesk ticketing system requests and helpdesk desktop support ticket requests. The technician is also responsible for creating equipment specification sheets and purchase request for new computers, peripheral hardware, and software. Helpdesk technicians are responsible for creating and configuring Active Directory, Office 365, as well as phone system accounts. Additional duties include the installation, configuring, and inventory tracking of software and computer hardware. Configuring desktop systems and laptops checking and maintaining conference room equipment, workstation UPS systems and printers. Coordinate and manage E-Waste deposal, and destruction of retired disk drives through regulated qualified reclamation vendors. QA Engineer

Universal Audio is looking for a quality assurance engineer to test UA hardware and software from inception through shipping, running numerous tests, recording and tracking bugs and validating fixes. Use your expert knowledge of audio recording to help flesh out the test grid, validate audio workflow and insure that our products ship with the highest quality possible. This position will test hardware/software integration including compatibility with various PC and Mac Operating systems, computer hardware, popular DAWs and plug-in formats.


Responsibilities:

  • Test UA hardware and software and hardware/software integration.

  • Run grid tests to expose errors, write up clear understandable errors and track the progress of fixes.

Marketing Project Coordinator


Job Description

As the Marketing Project Coordinator, you will help to schedule, resource, and implement a variety of marketing and e-commerce projects, keep the department working efficiently, track budgets, process paperwork, and interface with vendors and other marketing partners. As part of our marketing team, you will be called upon to assist your colleagues with other projects necessary to maintain UA's position as an industry leader, including advertising, sales events, online store projects, and various other marketing initiatives.

Quality Assurance Lead

Job Description

Universal Audio seeks a Lead Quality Assurance Engineer. This position will help organize and lead testing efforts which will include hardware, software and hardware/software integration on Universal Audio platforms. You will scope out testing needs and staffing, help build the test plan and schedule, assist in hiring of additional QA staff for the project, oversee day to day testing efforts. This position requires a person with experience in leading QA project teams and who has an excellent understanding of audio workflows, audio hardware and software.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and organize a small ( 4 to 5 person ) QA team in the testing of hardware and software
  • Write a comprehensive test plan and test cases that utilizes the product spec to test all functional areas of software and software/hardware interaction.
  • Estimate testing effort and help build a QA schedule
  • Attend all project meetings and represent QA
  • Monitor project status and report status to the QA Manager
  • Supervise day to day testing efforts
  • Represent QA at project meetings

Senior Software Program Manager

Universal Audio is seeking a Senior Software Program Manager to lead the planning and execution of our software platform roadmap. This individual will be responsible for working with our Product Management, Engineering and Quality Assurance teams to incorporate Agile processes and methodology. System and platform software may be delivered within the context of a waterfall-based hardware program or as incremental Agile updates, whereas App functionality may be delivered on a purely Agile basis. A successful candidate for this position must have demonstrated success with rolling out this transition within an integrated hardware/software Engineering team.


Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Product Management and Software engineering teams to establish a comprehensive backlog that represents the prioritized system, platform and app software requirements for a multi-year roadmap
  • Provide guidance based on the successful release of integrated hardware/software products on decomposing Agile backlogs into stories and tasks, and the relationship to architecture and specifications verses keeping the Agile team moving forward
  • Provide expert guidance to teams on how to implement definition of done, story point estimation, Agile metrics and other key Agile concepts

Universal Audio is looking for a Customer Support professional who will provide technical support for UA's product line of connected digital interfaces and analog equipment, provide support for our on-line store and provide presales product guidance. This is done via online request, telephone support and via self-service tools.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist all Universal Audio customers and incoming inquiries as required
  • Provide UA product installation support and troubleshooting for Windows and MAC based computers
  • Provide configuration and troubleshooting of Windows and MAC based computer systems and DAWs to customers
  • Generate knowledge base entries, both written and in video tutorial formats

Universal Audio makes some of the most advanced hybrid digital/analog audio products available in the market today. The position of Sr. Product Manager requires expertise at software and hardware integration, including in-depth software applications, cloud applications, and e-commerce. You must have outstanding communication/documentation skills and be able work within diverse product development teams.


As a member of the Product Management team, you will be involved in the early stages of product development, including market research and customer interaction; as well as defining product requirements during the definition and design phases. You will be responsible for clearly communicating technically complex information to multiple departments, while managing the lifecycle of professional music-making, audio and recording products.


The role of Sr. Product Manager at UA is multifaceted, but a key role is to ensure UA is making products that customers will love that simultaneously deliver great business to the company.


Primary deliverables include financial analysis (NPV, ROI), Market Requirements Documents (MRD), Product Concept Documents (PCD), Product Requirements Documents (PRD), as well as Product Briefs (to Marketing Communications) and planning presentations for executive staff.

Technical Content Specialist


Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Content Manager, with a “dotted line” to the Director of Artist and Industry Partnerships, the Technical Content Specialist works on the Marketing Communications Content team to provide accurate and consistent technical messaging and support — in the form of videos, outbound messaging, trade shows, audio content, and events.


Responsibilities:

  • Work to define and communicate unified outbound messaging for technical issues
  • Assist with quarterly Survival Guide and Power Points for sales team
  • Coordinate with CS, QA and Product Management teams to ensure technical accuracy of all marketing messaging
  • Provide and/or supervise technical design, installation, support for NAMM trade show booth and similar outreach events
  • Proof press reviews as needed to ensure technical accuracy
  • Assist CS team with creation of Knowledge Base articles, as needed

Requirements

  • 8 to 10 years delivering software/hardware products in the global professional audio or related markets.
  • 8 to 10 years managing multifaceted senior level engineering teams.
  • Experience shipping products with embedded processing architectures.
  • Ability to demonstrate objective decision making for high level / high impact engineering issues.
  • Direct experience with mixed signal audio applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and develop resources, create time tables, budgets and assign tasks and responsibilities.
  • Experience building teams.
  • Experience coordinating resources, providing direction, making decisions and evaluating outcomes.
  • Expert knowledge of Agile development methodologies and demonstrated ability to implement them.
  • Expert knowledge of modern CPUs and their relevant architectures.
  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer science or related area.
